About the band

incolour is a professional function band playing covers from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s right up to more recent chart hits at live music venues and all types of functions including weddings, private parties and corporate events.

We provide live music with an energetic performance, ensuring that whatever the event, everyone has a great time.

Based in Leighton Buzzard, South Beds we’re happy to travel to play at your function and tailor our set of live Soul, Funk, R&B and Pop Classics to suit your wedding, party, corporate event or venue.

The line up includes male and female lead vocalists and a back line of guitar, bass, drums, keys and saxophone.

1 David

David was accepted into music college on the strength of his singing, whilst there learning piano and guitar. David is a regular on the London caberet scene performing at the Pigalle, Soho Revue Bar and Madame JoJos. 2 michelle

Michelle has been singing and song writing from a young age. Through her teens she won many singing competitions and went on to form the funk rock band Recovery, gigging original material for 5 years. She appeared at the Music For You Festival where she was interviewed on BBC 2 and O’Neill Snowboarding have featured 2 of her tracks on a promo DVD which was also screened on Sky. Michelle now sings in two bands, one of which is incolour, of which she comments “I love it and feel honoured to be a part of the soul funk music”.

3 steve

Steve has played from a young age and was influenced early on by Hank Marvin, Eric Clapton, Peter Green & Santana. Steve played lead guitar with The Outsiders followed by a 7 year stint on bass with blues band Kirwin. Inspired by soul/funk artists including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Chic, Incognito and Paul Weller Steve picked up lead guitar again to form Incolour.

4 rob

Rob first picked up the bass guitar to help out local blues/rock band Special Reserve and played with them for 2 years. It was when he saw a band called McCalla that he discovered soul/funk and started to listen to and take influence from musicians like Stevie Wonder, Incognito and Brand New Heavies among others, prompting him to form incolour.

5 tim

Tim plays sax and keys and is a founder member of incolour. Whilst at school he played in the Beds County Youth Band and Youth Dance Orchestra. At university he followed his love of jazz with Jazz Conference and also played for local blues funk band Plan-It-Duff. During this period he supported Bad Manners and Curiosity Killed the Cat and sat in with the BBC Radio Leicester Big Band. He has studied with 2 saxophone greats – Jean Toussaint (Art Blakey and the Messengers) and Butch Thomas (Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Jaco Pastorius).

6 chris

Chris took up drums and percussion early on but it was during university that music fever took hold and Chris played pubs, clubs and festivals up and down the country with blues band Kirwin and with Steve, Tim and Rob, Chris formed incolour in 2001. A fan of all music Chris includes Ginger Baker, John Bonham, Keith Moon & Steve White as drumming influences.

7 phil temp

Phil’s early career was in original music making on independent record labels, but always had a great love 60 soul and British R&B. This led him to perform in a touring production of The Who’s Tommy which played at the world famous Marquee club in London’s West End and Edinburgh festival. A multi instrumentalist currently indulging his love of vintage keyboard sounds and funky tambourine, finds a happy home in incolour.

8 jon

Jon – ‘The Heartbeat’ – is the keen and enthusiastic sound technician, roadie, general organiser & facilitator of the band. Has been a part of the incolour family from its original conception and has seen the band develop into one of the best funk/soul bands in the area. A lover of great live music, Jon is proud to be associated with such a fantastic group of people. Finally, keep an eye out for his virtuoso playing of the cow bell in some of incolour’s numbers.
